The workers had filed cases against their employer Metal Farming Centre at various Qatari judiciaries including High Court and Supreme Court for denying them regular payments for 15 months.
The acting ambassador Mani Ratna Sharma informed that a representative has been sent to Search and Follow Up Department (SFD) to garner further information on the matter. SFD usually deports the arrested migrant workers to their respective countries after first keeping them at the deportation centre.

The company employed 118 workers out of which 88 were Nepalis. Others were Indian and Sri Lankan. Some of such workers have already returned home.
The workers were hired for construction works. They have 400 to 25,000 Riyal due from their employer. “Some of our friends’ cases have reached the Supreme Court. Their hearing is slated for November 8,” said one worker Ram Dev Chaudhari of Itahari.
