TO strengthen public transport system in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party government gave a nod to appbased premium air conditioned bus service, which will work on the lines of app-based taxi aggregators and is expected to become operational from June. The premium buses will be fully air-conditioned with no passengers allowed to stand. The price of tickets for these buses will be higher than normal buses and aims to encourage car drivers switch to public transport.The move from government comes at a time when they are at loggerheads with auto unions and app-based taxi service providers during the second phase of odd-even scheme. Auto unions threatened to go on strike while app-based service providers were directed to end their surge pricing. Under the premium bus service, existing app-based cab aggregators like Ola and Uber may also enter into new services.
